Extreme Logisitcs: Helping classic car racing to get back on track post-COVID19

Although the impact of the COVID-19 pandemic continues to affect all our lives, we can at least be grateful that some activities have resumed. In July, amateur motorsport meetings started to take place at circuits in England and the Extreme Logistics team has been delighted to play our part, helping clients with the transportation of classic cars and equipment.

Motorsport is a passion for several members of the Extreme Logistics team so the opportunity to be part of the first ‘COVID-safe’ meeting at Donington was not to be missed. The meeting, organised by the MG Car Club, took place just a week after lockdown restrictions were lifted. It was an anxious wait for final confirmation that we had the green light to load the trailer and get on the road to Derbyshire.

Our precious cargo for the occasion was a 1968 MG Midget, transported by 4x4 in a covered vehicle trailer.  We were conscious that there would be close scrutiny of every aspect of the meeting, as this was the first event to take place after restrictions were lifted.  The COVID-safe measures were clearly set out in advance by the MG Car Club and the circuit.  Although our drivers are now very familiar with the hygiene and distancing measures that need to be followed as part of our daily operation, we were keen to play our part to ensure everything ran smoothly for the event organisers, and our client. Thankfully there were no major issues or hold ups getting onsite and set up.  Everything went ahead as planned, and on time.

Although some of the usual ‘buzz’ from a race meeting was missing, including spectators, everyone was just glad to be back on the track and racing again. At the end of the day our client had a podium finish, so our first trip back to the circuit was memorable for all the right reasons!

We’ve subsequently transported cars to meetings in Snetterton and Castle Combe and have enjoyed meeting up with old friends, and making new contacts in the process – all socially-distanced, of course.

The day job at Extreme Logistics involves transporting all kinds of loads across the country to all kinds of places; but race days and classic car transport are always highlights and we’re so glad to be playing our part in making them happen again.
